MAKE A WISH Helps ALEX Become Robin, The Boy Wonder!!

ABC News recently ran a story about a small boy, age 7, who is living with Leukemia but also got to be a superhero for the day. In fact, he wanted to be Batman's sidekick, Robin! So, the Make a Wish Foundation teamed-up with the Anaheim Police Department to do just that!!

VIDEO: Bat-Blog BATMAN TOY DRIVE Appears on Local TV Station, News 9!

Wow.... WOW! The big news with the Bat-Blog right now, and the BATMAN TOY DRIVE we're doing for the School Teacher who lost her Batman Toy Collection during the May 20th Tornado in Moore, Oklahoma, got some major press last night. It's all been pretty exciting! 



Yesterday, I was contacted by Michael Konopasek, a News Reporter for our local Channel 9 TV News Station, here where I live, and he said he was doing a follow-up story on Becky Joe Evans who is now starting to become known as the "Plaza Towers Batman Teacher". Last month they did a story about her and after being inspired by their broadcast I started a Toy Drive to see if me and my readers could help. Somehow they found out about the Bat-Blog doing this and decided to add me to the broadcast. So, I went to their building to be taped. Yeah, crazy right?!



Wow! It was crazy! To be honest, I really hate having my photo taken, even by friends or family. But I knew it would be great press for our event so I went to be interviewed. Now, knowing that you're gonna be seen by a ton of people... is completely nerve-racking, ha! The funny thing is that they interviewed me, on camera, for approx. 30 minutes... and then, after editing, I only appear for roughly 30 seconds, ha! But they did mention the Bat-Blog and how we're trying to raise donations so that was completely wonderful.



But the best part of the whole thing, honestly (for me anyway) was that they went to the Moore Elementary School and they filmed some of the stuff that has been donated by Loyal Bat-Blog Readers. Oh man! This is the first time I have got to even see this stuff. it's been incredible. I'm so thankful and grateful for the amazing generosity of the Bat-Blog's readership. I mean, I know that the response rate has been pretty good because everyone who has sent stuff, first, had to contact me for a mailing address. So, I knew those numbers were more than I expected (way beyond expectations) but to actually get to see all the great stuff people have sent... it's beyond words. 



OK, I'm starting to realize that I'm almost writing a novel here, ha ha, sorry about that, but I'm really emotional about this and at the same time very excited! Some Fans of this site have really gone the extra mile towards acting in a very giving way and I'm deeply touched by it. Honestly, I'm extremely grateful, Thank you everybody... Thank you SO much.

UPDATE: Bat-Blog BATMAN TOY DRIVE For Moore, Oklahoma Tornado Event

I know a lot of people are going to want to hear about this because it's all very good news! Long-Time Readers of the BAT-BLOG know that for the last few weeks we have been running a BATMAN TOY DRIVE for a 1st Grade School Teacher in Moore, Oklahoma, who lost almost her entire Batman Toy & Memorabilia Collection when her school, The Plaza Towers Elementary, got hit. Her name is Becky Joe Evans.



We started a TOY DRIVE to collect donations for her so she can restore her collection. The wonderful thing, and I sincerely mean this, the wonder thing is that many readers of this site have become heavily involved. When I talked to her recently she said donations have been flooding in. I can't be any more excited about this and I really appreciate it so much. Seriously, this has practically restored my faith in humanity, ha!



Anyways, we have two brand-new major pieces of news to share. 



One, Matthew Price, over at our local "Daily Oklahoman" Newspaper, published an online story yesterday at their "NERDAGE" page that shared the story. That helped a lot (Thanks Matt) and you can read it by clicking HERE!



Then, this morning I was contacted by a local TV News Station, News 9 (Channel 9, a CBS Affliate) and eariler this night I went to their building to be filmed for about 30 minutes. Now, the funny thing is that they will probably edit me down to 30 seconds if I even show-up at all, ha! But, if all goes well, our story might be on the local TV news tonight! If you live near Oklahoma City, OK. then please be sure to watch at 10:00 tonight ( Wednesday, Sept. 4th ). 



If it does air they will probably (hopefully) share it online and I'll be able to share it here later. So please stay tuned.



Anyways, this is all about our BATMAN TOY DRIVE and if you want to get involved then you can do a few of these things:



What we here at the BAT-BLOG want to do is start a BATMAN TOY DRIVE to help her renew some of her collection. We want YOU, our readers, to please get involved and HELP IN ANY WAY YOU CAN!



We're asking you to please do one or two of these things:



1. If you can, please donate some Batman Toys or other Memorabilia. Well, just about anything "Batman". If you e-mail me I will give you an address where you can mail them directly to her and her class. Please don'y mail anything directly to the School because they have a lot more important things to do now that classes have JUST started. Here's my e-mail button:







2. If you don't have anything to send and would just like to donate some cash then here's a Pay-Pal Button where you can send what ever amount you want. If you don't have a Pay-Pal account you can still Just use any major Credit Card or Debit Card.  Or if you don't want to go that route then please e-mail me and I'll give you an address where you can safely send a Check or Money Order.

3. This goes out to people who are either sending something or NOT:

NEWS UPDATE on the Bat-Blog MOORE TORNADO BATMAN TOY DRIVE

OK, if you have never read the BAT-BLOG before we are mostly all about the joy of collecting Batman. We also love the character and try to cover all the fresh news coming out, stuff like: Vintage Toys, New Collectibles, Video Games, Animated Movies, TV Cartoons, etc... just about anything and everything BATMAN!



As the Writer of this site I also live in Oklahoma and on May 20th we were struck with a major tornado. The big news here was about an Elementary School in Moore, called "Plaza Towers", that got hit. Then, very recently I heard about the story of a School Teacher there who was a major BATMAN Collector and she lost almost all of her collection. You see, she displayed it in her class so her students could also enjoy it.



This is what the BAT-BLOG TOY DRIVE is all about. Trying to help her restock her missing collection. We did a recent post here that explains everything. If you have not read it then please do. If anything there's a great video to watch of some of the news coverage. Just CLICK HERE.



Anyways, this post is an update to what has been going on recently. First, I'd like to repair a typo that I made in the original post. I mentioned that no kids were injured in this event. Sadly, I just found out that 7 children were actually killed in this hit of the school building. None of the kids who died were directly students of the particular Teacher we have been talking about, but it's still incredibly sad news. It's the worst thing I can think of, for something like this to happen. I hope their parents find peace in some way. I can't imagine what this would even be like.



Yeah, major bad news, right?! I'm sorry. The next bit of information will be a little more bright, I hope. First off, here at the Bat-Blog we were contacted by the Agent-Manager who represents both Burt Ward and Adam West. Of course these are the two Actors who played "Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder" on the classic 1966 BATMAN TV Series!



They are both getting very involved in this event and I could not be more proud of them. They're both really great people. I mean, WOW!! Isn't that so cool?!! Thank you Mr. West, Mr. Ward, and Andrew.

Now, check this out... The Teacher we're trying to help, her name is Ms. Evans, sent us this wonderful photo up above showing a few of the items that some extremely  generous Bat-Blog Readers have sent so far!



There's some great stuff here! The responses have been really awesome and we really appreciate everybody who has written to us so far. The response rate has been a lot higher than I could hope for. Thank you everybody!! But we gotta keep this going and even build on it.
